I’ve been babysitting kids unprofessionally since I was 13 years and those kids from my family and friends. When I was 16, I volunteered as a teaching assistant at an orphanage school in Ghana for three months and this gave me a better understanding of how different backgrounds and experiences shape a child. In my first year of university, I worked as an intern in China for a month and during that, I was able to have the opportunity to work with grade school children whilst helping to bridge the cultural gap. During this experience, I was responsible for planning activities in English, teaching them basic first aid skills and planning trips. Prior to this experience, I worked as a babysitter for koru kids for one year and this was my first professional babysitting role. During this role, I essentially got the child ready for school, made breakfast, played with him, read with him, helped him with his homework and walked him to school.
