Animal Management BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma - September 2014 - June 2016 • Achieved Merit, Merit, Pass grade in Animal Management • Studied a wide range of units including animal biology, genetics, zoo, livestock, conservation, animal training, and animal behaviour. • Practical husbandry sessions for the animals that lived on campus. • In my second year of college, I became a team leader to the first-year students. I was responsible for delegating tasks, giving support, and teaching skills during our practical sessions. Whilst I was at college, I was required to complete 6 weeks of unpaid work experience. I completed this at various veterinary practices, rescues, a petting farm, and a kennel/cattery. Patient Care Assistant – September 2024 – Present Vermont Veterinary Surgery • Assisting veterinarians and veterinary nurses in providing care to animals, including feeding, watering, cleaning, walking and monitoring the well-being. • Assist veterinarians and nurses with pet restraint for procedures or anesthesia induction. • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the clinic, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly stored. • Prepare laboratory samples and assist in conducting diagnostic tests as needed. • Caring for animals, administering simple medical treatments under instruction and supervision. • Setting up for surgery, x-rays, and medical procedures. • Reception duties. Self Employed Dog walker and Pet sitter – August 2018 – Present • Walking and exercising up to 4 dogs at a time with variable sizes, breeds, and temperaments in all weather conditions. This included on and off lead, solo and group walks. • Completing all administrative tasks, including accounts, invoicing, updating my social media profiles frequently, and scheduling my diary. • Conducting introduction consultations with new potential clients. • Socialising and walking dogs safely and matching them with suitable buddy’s to walk with when necessary. • Observing physical and mental health of pets and informing clients if needed. • Providing pet first aid and taking animals to the vets when necessary. • Supporting in puppy training. • Working with nervous and reactive animals to build their confidence. • Providing positive training techniques. • Administering medication to pets following owner’s instructions.
I have a strong passion for animals that has been evident since a young age. I completed a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management and have gained diverse experience within the industry, including roles in rescue work, dog walking, pet sitting, charitable organisations, and veterinary settings. For nearly a year, I have been working as a Patient Care Assistant in a veterinary practice. This is where I’ve developed practical skills working with various species and temperaments. In addition to my animal-related experience, I possess excellent customer service skills. I am confident in handling emails and phone communications and am proficient in using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
