Amber J.
I grew up loving animals, going back to India during school breaks, I helped my grandad look after the cows, goats and dogs on his farm. Seeing my passion, my parents bought me rabbits, which when they passed away left me heartbroken and not wanting to own pets again. However I have recovered from this and would love a cat or dog. I routinely look after my friends dog, Happy, whenever they are on holiday (unpaid) and it really solidified my desire to look after dogs and pets. Aside from this, I am studying Human geography in London to pursue my passions in human rights, cultural geography and geopolitics. In addition to this I love the gym, hikes and I play guitar (I’m still learning).
I have been working in paid positions for 2 years, these positions have ranged from pet sitting to teaching assistant and waitressing. My most applicable experience is pet sitting where I have looked after 2 cats, a puppy and a tortoise. For all of these, my key responsibilities were feeding and stimulation (play time and walks). I sat for all of these pets continuously, once every two weeks for two years and I loved every moment. In addition to this while being a teaching assistant, one of my roles was caring for the class rabbit, this included cleaning the enclosure and feeding, as well as ensuring the rabbit was not overwhelmed by the kids.
