Una D.
My grandparents lived with us, so caring for elderly people was normal. They didn't go into a home, as my Mum and my siblings all cared for my grandparents, elderly aunt, and uncle until they passed. I love looking after people and animals, as we had a farm with loads of animals. I find it very rewarding. I have 2 wonderful daughters and a 3-year-old granddaughter. I enjoy cooking and eating, lol. I did a course on reiki healing, as I have an interest in astrology, crystals, tarot, etc. I also love painting and decorating, and completed a painting and decorating course for which I obtained a certificate. I worked on-site for a year. I obtained an NVQ level 2 for care, and later a level 3 while working as a health care assistant in general practice. I am very happy to learn and improve myself, as that's what life is about. Over the years, I have had a spare job alongside my full-time job, usually through word of mouth. For example, cleaning, dog walking, and minding the dog when their owner went on holidays. It's all handy money, and I like having money. Unfortunately, my Dad and Mum passed away in the last 2 years in Ireland. It's all part of life and so forth. Lots of life experiences, happy times, and sad times.
Nursing home night shift at Goldsborough Care Home. I have been a health care assistant at a GP practice for 15 years. I have also worked as a live-in carer for elderly gentlemen in private employment. Currently, I work as a 2-hour carer for a lady with dementia, Monday to Friday, covering breaks for her live-in carer. I have been in this role for just over a year, and I am employed by a private family.
