I am a 19yr old University student. I am going into my 2nd year studying Sport Psychology. I am studying at Winchester however am originally from Portchester and return there for the holidays. I absolutely love sports and being outside whenever I can exploring new places with my dog. When I finish my degree I will hopefully go into working with children either at a primary or secondary level and encouraging sport engagement whilst aiming to engage with them on a personal level and help with their psychological wellbeing and attitudes towards sport as it is more important to me how they feel about/when participating rather than whether they do or not. I have always volunteered to work within primary schools when it has been an option for me and I have worked with a range of ages and a range of behavioural challenges. I also have a cousin with autism and I absolutely love to spend time with him and taking him out and seeing him enjoy himself and being able to see how much of a positive affect I can have on him is just the most rewarding feeling! I feel I am very committed and I will devote my full attention to your child/children. To do this to my best ability I have put 2children max as I have never had to look after more than 2 children on my own and, whilst I feel I probably could, I wouldn’t want to take that next step without being 100% confident. I know that 19 is young and I understand if there is any apprehension however I wouldn’t be willing to answer any questions, call or I can even come for an initial visit so you can see if I would be a good fit for your child and within your home. Although I am 19years old, I have been a trusted baby sitter for family and friends since I was 16. This has included staying overnight with the children and also taking them out for the day. Whilst I will be working with the children I will be working for you so whatever arrangement is most suitable for your work, I can happily work around. I also have experience in sport coaching with children from the ages of 4-14 and I absolutely love sports and being outside so (weather permitting) would try to engage the children in physical activity as I believe it to be such an important thing for kids. I admittedly haven’t got as much experience with academic engagement however I have spent time in primary schools helping with simple maths, reading and science work and feel confident that I could be helpful with children up to 13/14yrs academically, I received exceptional grades myself so believe that I could provide adequate teaching. Should there be anything specific that you would like for them to learn I would also be more than happy to educate myself beforehand to ensure I can confidently pass this on and help them to understand. I have such a passion for working with children and it is an area that I would love to go into after I finish my university studies. I am available immediately until the start of September. I unfortunately can’t drive however I am confident in public transport so, should there be a route to get to you, it shouldn’t cause too many issues. I am located in Portchester so am local to Portsmouth and Fareham however can also travel to surrounding areas (again provided there is public transport) I would also be willing to do overnights should that be necessary however I would prefer to spend time with both you and the children first (no overnights straight away)
